After a productive morning of painting Kim’s laundry room this past Sunday, she was super sweet and treated me to a vegan lunch at Loving Hut.
Loving Hut is an international vegan restaurant franchise, so depending on which one you visit, your food and dining experience may vary. I’m happy to say that the Loving Hut in Falls Church was awesome though! From the clean and simple dining room to the delicious food, it was a nice break from painting on a very rainy day.
To start, we ordered the Golden Rolls which were similar to a spring roll. Each one was filled with veggies and fried.
As sometimes happens when Kim and I dine together at Sunflower, we both ended up ordering the same thing at Loving Hut. Soup was perfect for the weather and we both decided to go with the Pho Vietnamese Noodle soup which came with rice noodles, tofu, wheat gluten, carrots and cilantro.
It’s available gluten-free, which as you can see in the picture of mine above, most importantly meant no wheat gluten/fake meat. Each soup came with came with a side of bean sprouts, basil and a little wedge of lime and sweet and hot sauces were placed on the table so we could customize the flavor. Even though I thought the soup had a great flavor to being with, I liked the option!
The dessert selection was extensive, with a display case of cakes, brownies and sticky buns, as well as Sweet n’ Sara treats AND vegan ice cream. It was overwhelming. I wanted everything! I think we were both pretty full from our meal though and saved the desserts for next time. I can already tell this place is going to give Sunflower a run for its money as my favorite VA vegan eatery.
It also can’t go without mentioning that there’s a pretty big vegan wall of fame. Pictures of celebrities and short bios ran the length of one wall in the dining room. It’s a cute idea and I can see how it may help people new to veganism put a name they “know” with being vegan. And yes Bink, if you’re reading this, Lea Michele was prominently displayed.
I apologize for the lack of pictures, but I was kinda beat, covered in paint and just enjoying chatting with Kim over my bowl of soup. Truth be told, she had to remind me to take the pictures I did! There are a few more on their Yelp! page if you’re really interested though. Yep, totally just punted to a yelp page for pics. On that note, have a great weekend!
